The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls has not posted any information about the new Toyota recalls on its website.

Toyota says about 495,000 Tacoma is now recalled in connection with driver's airbag may not deploy in an accident due to problems with the cable all the helical wheel.

"The combination of a spiral drive cable design and unique features on the chassis of Tacoma, the friction between the cable and restraint in a spiral coiled cable wheel assembly may occur in some vehicles," said Toyota. "Tensions over time can lead to loss of connection to the driver airbag module.

"If the connection is lost, the airbag indicator on the dashboard will illuminate after starting the car and the driver's airbag can be disabled, preventing the deployment in the event of an accident."

The recall is expected to begin in early April.
